The design theory behind the 552 Gold becomes obvious when the reels begin to scream and the cockpit action hots up. The huge beam has allowed the Evolution team to create a class–leading 2.10m of internal width at the transom which opens up a huge amount of angling space in the cockpit for a true 5.50m hull. Serious attention to detail is reflected in the smooth and uncluttered space of the cockpit. Padded coamings and moulded toe holds on the floor provide anglers support and comfort when the battle starts to draw out, while organising tackle, leaders and baits is also made simple with multiple rear lockers and full–width side pockets.
When the crew strike fishing gold, they will appreciate the large and stable fishing platform, multiple stainless steel rod holders and an underfloor fish bin to help maximise the angling session. A closer inspection will also reveal enough room for twin batteries for added security during those extended offshore trips and a room to position a deck wash to tidy up and be ready for the next adventure.
Driving the 552 Gold is a smooth and comfortable operation with a fully–moulded windscreen providing excellent visibility from the helm while the dash layout offers plenty of space for mounting the all–important electronics. Robust pedestal boxes with inbuilt storage provide a base for the quality upholstered seats while the 552 Gold also delivers a roomy V–berth forward cabin for shelter and accommodation when needed.
Powering the 552 Gold is straightforward with a choice of outboard options recommended between 100hp and 150hp. Skippers won’t resist staying out that little bit extra with 150L of underfloor fuel at the ready for those big trips out wide.
For a no–nonsense fishing platform, the Evolution 552 Gold is well equipped to handle the riggers of bay and bluewater fishing. |
